The Life History & Qineis of Liqe Kahnat Aleqa Tsega Teshale

Aleqa Tsega Teshale was born in 1886, in a small village in Gojjam, Ethiopia. From these humble beginnings, he rose to become a nationally respected Ethiopian Orthodox Church scholar, and liqe kahinat (or chief of the learned) of all Simien and Begemdir provinces. He was also a major poet of Ge’ez qinei, twenty-nine of which are collected here (and translated into both Amharic and English) for the first time.

አለቃ ፀጋ ተሻለ እ.አ.አ. በ1886 ዓ/ም ጎጃም ውስጥ በምትገኝ በአንዲት አነስተኛ መንደር ተወለዱ። ከዚህ ባኅላዊ አስተዳደግ ተነስተው በጣም የተከበሩና የታወቁ የቤተ-ክህነት ምሁርና የቤጌምድርና ሰሜን ክፍለ-አገር ሊቀ-ካህናት መሆን በቅተዋል። በተጨማሪም የታወቁ የግዕዝ ቅኔ አዋቂና ገጣሚ ነበሩ። ከሥራዎቻቸው መኻል ሃያ-ዘጠኝ ቅኔዎቻቸው ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ በአማርኛና በእንግዚዝኛ ተተርጉመው በዚህ መጸሐፍ ተካትተዋል።
